Knitting is the process of using longer than normal needles, known as knitting needles, to interlink or knot a succession of loops using a continuous thread. This forms what is known as a textile. There are variety of knit stitches you can use which all result in a different look and feel to the fabric. Reverse Stockinette Stitch, Rib Stitch, Seed Stitch., Beginner Lace Stitch, Cable Stitch to name a few. Give it a go!

Needle Felting

Needle felting uses a special type of needle that has a tiny barb on the end of it. It passes through the wool, and the tiny barb pulls the wool in but not out again, causing the wool fibres to tangle. The finished process looks very impressive and can take time to master. Brilliant for making small yarn toys. If you’ve been sewing for some time now, why not give it a try!

Crochet is a needlework technique using a singular needle and most typically yarn or yarn thread. You can make an array of fashion items including blankets, scarfs, hats, purses. Once you’ve levelled up you can apply the same technique to other crafts such as dressmaking and knitwear, to make something your very own style! With few barriers at entry level, why not give it a go!

Cross Stitch

Cross Stitch is a form of embroidery, comprised of X stitches. Normally used to create raised pictures on fabric. Generally very decorative, commemorating a picture, place or word art. Cross Stitch is a great entry level project to the world of sewing, without breaking the bank. Why not give it a go!

Tatting is a method of handcrafting, for creating decorative products such as earrings, necklaces, dolly dressing, parts of clothing. Decorative lace is sometimes formed using this technique too. It a very rewarding process and the end result looks very beautiful and intricate. Tatting is created using a series of loops and knots. Check out one of our kits today.

Needle Punching

Needle punching is one of more fun types of creation, which can be picked up by any beginner. As with any craft needle punching takes time to master, but the basics are fairly easy. It uses a long needle with a hollow stem, a bevelled point and larger than normal eye. Yarn is thread through the stem and is punched into woven fabric to create loops of yarn, forming a pattern. Very impressive!
